SaaS - Configuration

Experda Server or Experda Agent:

The Experda Agent is a Windows service installed on a designated machine.
This agent collects data from the managed server machines and executes commands.
It also coordinates between the user interface (UI) and the managed servers.
It is preferred that the agent be installed on it’s own dedicated server.
Especially if the organization monitors 3 or more MSSQL servers.

Prerequisites for the agent’s designated server:

  1. Operating System Windows Server 2019 standard 64-bit or higher
  2. 16GB RAM and above
    Core processors
  3. Windows Installer 3.5 and above
  4. Server is registered with the domain we want to manage
  5. Ensure installation is done by domain user with local administrator
credentials and is part of a domain.

Managed servers:

Any SQL Server instance you wish to monitor is called a “managed
serve” MSSQL Versions SQL 2005 and above are supported.

Prerequisites for managed servers (monitored servers):

  1. Ensure a domain user with server administrator privileges exists.
  2. Ensure an SQL user with SYSADMIN exists.
  3. Ensure that there is access from the Experda Agent server (designated server) to the managed servers using WMI. Usual ports are 135, 49152-65535. They are usually open by default within an organization.
  4. Ensure opened TCP ports between the server and the Experda agent server are open. Default port is 1433. However, you might have a different configuration. The easiest method of checking is by installing Management Studio on the Experda agent server and connecting to the managed server.

On-premises server requirement and configuration

Server hardware requirements:

  1. Operating System Windows Server 2019 standard 64-bit or higher
  2. Minimum 4 Core logical processors of type i7 and above
  3. Minimum of 32BG of RAM.
  4. Installation of MSSQL STD from 2019 and above. With full index capabilities.
  5. MSSQL memory configuration is 12 GB and more.
  6. Ensure the MSSQL port is open between the server and the managed servers
(monitored servers)

Prerequisites for the agent’s designated server:

  1. Ensure that a local administrator is on the designated server.
If the server is part of the local domain, ensure that there is a domain user and a local administrator on each server that the Experda system will manage.
  2. Make sure that each server that will be managed has sysadmin access.
  3. Ensure the WMI and RPC services are running on the managed servers.
